The project is called Geiko.
The artist wanted to deepen an element of oriental flavor present in Cyberpunk, especially in the cinematic declination of the genre. Geiko, a term synonymous with geisha, is a name and a sound that evoke an atmosphere and an imaginary linked to the Far East and that takes us into a world of a references and objects of Oriental culture. He used elements belonging to this world and everyday objects to elaborate a semantic synthesis that gives life to characters whose bodies, connoted with objects, writings and clothes used as furnishing objects, acquire another meaning and transform the figure into language. The bodies of artist's geiko play on the dislocation of a recognizable cultural icon, a female stereotype widely exported and then resemantized. The characters the artist creates through make-up and collage flaunt bodies adorned with elaborate headdresses and dresses or surrounded by ropes: the reference is to the work of Nobuyoshi Araki but declined according to a Post-human sensibility.
